7 Must See Wineries Around the World

Many people thoroughly enjoy touring facilities that take the fruit of the vine and turn it into great tasting wine. If you are one of those people, it may be time to settle in and take your own tour of wineries throughout the world. Here is just a sampling of 7 of them where you will be able to indulge your taste buds in some of the finest red wine as well as white wine with vintages to die for.

France

1. In Bordeaux, you will find Chateau Mouton Rothschild. This incredible winery will allow drop in visitors who have no letters of introduction or who have not already booked a tour. However, it is advisable to book well in advance for summer arrival. This winery not only boasts of being the home of what some say must be included as one of the world's finest red wines, but it house a museum displaying the artwork that has been used for labels and other artefacts of the vinous variety.
2. In Beaune, Burgundy, the Musee du Vin, can be found just behind a beautiful cathedral and within walking distance of the Hotel Dieu. The winery funds a museum dating back to the 15th century, which is the landmark of the city and a must see. This museum is full in insight into how wines, both red and white have been produces through the past 600 years. The centuries old wooden wine press was put back to work within the past few years.

3. In Champagne is located the Mumm winery which is the primary source for the famous wine that is sprayed about liberally at the finish of the Grand Prix. The wine cellars in this location can hold as much as 25 million bottles of red and white as well as all the champagne anyone would want to see. A tour would be recommended but be sure to book ahead of time.

United States

4. California, in the Napa Valley is home to Robert Mondavi which is a landmark of the region. This winery was the first to treat tourism as a serious business consideration. A tour of this facility will introduce you to the flavours and scents of red wine and white wine.

5. Frankonia, Wurzburg is the place to find Weingut Juliuspital and take a tour of the cellars which date back into the 16th century. This winery houses 200 large ancient wooden casks underneath a baroque palace.

6. At Adelaide you will find Penfolds Magill Estate which is the initial home of Australia's world famous red wine, Grange. It sits on the outskirts of the city, and during a tour you will be able to visit the original home of Dr Penfold where he first began his wine making efforts during 1845.
