Light Finger Foods For A Party

By Jason Smith

Everybody loves to party because it spells fun. Occasions like Thanksgiving and Christmas are events that are awaited and just cannot be missed. Looking forward to these parties with anticipation is partly because of the traditional party mouth-watering spreads on the table. Great introductions are in the offing when the choice finger foods for a party are well selected.

In a party where there is much food, it is ideal to serve finger foods for a party that are not too heavy for the appetizer or antipasto. Recipes that are not so heavy on the stomach are ideal.

Bacon-Water Chestnut Wrap is done by frying half bacon slices, wrapped on water chestnuts, then secured with a toothpick. For the sauce, mayonnaise, chili sauce for spice and brown sugar are mixed and pour over the wraps and baked at 350o or until bubbly.

Other finger foods for a party includes the Apple Choco-peanut core. A mixture of peanut butter and honey in which some chocolate chips and raisins are folded in as filling. The apples are chilled and sliced and spread on a platter.

Antipasto Kabobs is another light dish that puts in several ingredients in a short skewer or toothpicks. The basic ingredients are the following: pimiento- cubed cheese, stuffed olives, cold cuts, cooked tortellini, a sprig of fresh parsley and Italian dressing. Except for parsley, all ingredients are marinated in the dressing overnight and skewer before the party. Fold the cold cuts and tortellini to make them more substantial.

Meaty finger foods can be thrown in to satisfy guests expected to be quite hungry. Traditional dishes like Spicy Buffalo Wings and Chicken Cheese Balls will be appreciated. Buffalo wings are actually chicken wings that are breaded and fried or baked with some sauce. Chicken cheese balls are mixtures of ground chicken meat and grated cheese molded into medium-sized balls and then fried or baked. Some optional chopped additions like onion, raisins, carrots and an herb can make these balls really mouth-watering. A guacamole works well in both.

Next party think about having these delicious finger foods for a party to warm up guests.
