There have been plenty of studies conducted about the health effects people can fact from drinking coffee. Most people are aware that drinking coffee late at night can keep them awake and affect their quality of sleep.

People who drink more than 2 cups of coffee each day could be increasing their risk of developing osteoporosis. Research conducted with almost 1,000 women showed that heavy coffee drinking can stop the body from absorbing some necessary vitamins and minerals from the diet. This can lead to the body developing osteoporosis, which is a good deal of bone density loss that is generally associated with older people. Yet, some people who drink a lot of coffee have been found to have a reduction in bond density. Of course there are other lifestyle factors that could contribute to an early onset of osteoporosis. These things consist of smoking, drinking and hormone using. The study also went on to say that some of the negative effects of heavy coffee drinking could be reduced by adding milk to the coffee.

Another link to keep in mind is the one to a reduced risk of developing type 2 diabetes. When compared to those who drink no coffee at all, people who consume 2 cups of coffee daily can reduce the risk of diabetes by up to 50%. It's believed that the caffeine in coffee causes a decrease in sensitivity to insulin.

At the other end of the spectrum, some people develop low blood sugar or hypoglycemia as a result. Hypoglycemic symptoms are not at all pleasant and may include clammy skin, weakness, heart palpitations, and sweating. Avoid drinking coffee completely if you have been diagnosed with hypoglycemia.

Though no studies have been conducted it is a widely held belief that caffeine increases the risk of high blood pressure. For people who drink too much coffee, anxiety or irritability is a common side effect. Drinking coffee can hamper the ability to resist stress for some people. The end result is that they begin to feel stressed out or overly anxious about things that would normally not be a problem. In this situation symptoms of stress might involve irregular heartbeats, increased heart rate, or even higher than usual blood pressure. Heavy coffee drinkers are especially likely to experience this. There are benefits to enjoy by drinking coffee in moderation. At the same time, drinking too much coffee can turn the tides in the other direction. In order to really enjoy some of the scientifically-proven health benefits and avoid the negative aspects, be sure to moderate the amount of coffee you drink to no more than two each day.
