Spending Quality Time With Your Kids On Mother's Day

By Benjamin Abbott

Mother's Day is a wonderful holiday, and young children have a great deal of fun finding ways to show mom how important she is. When kids come to you looking for ideas to celebrate Mother's Day, consider some of these:

You really can't go wrong by making breakfast for mom on Mother's Day. Just be sure to help the younger kids and supervise any use of the stove.

Letting mom sleep in may be a rare luxury. Or you could throw a tea party or dance for mom, with everyone dressed up in their Sunday best. Or dressed for a theme. Let the kids use their imagination and decide.

Dance recitals are another great idea. Be sure to video tape this one, as mom will want to watch it again and again! The kids will love dancing for mom!

You could do both the tea party and the dance, and wear the poodle skirts for both! Another great idea, my own personal favorite, is to clean the house for mom on Mother's Day. What a great way to feel appreciated waking up to a nice clean house without having to do the work for a change!

How about doing a family craft? This could become an annual tradition, and it not only provides a gift but a family activity as well. Your kids will have fun selecting and planning a new craft each year! You could get out all those Mother's Day crafts each year and reflect on how much fun you have year after year.

You could also plant flowers, or even a tree, for mom. These are living creatures that mom will enjoy for years to come. A heartfelt letter is another great idea.

Dads can help younger children with the writing and with many other ideas. Have them draw a special picture if they are too young to write. What could be more special for a mom on Mother's Day?
