Family meals usually consist of several dishes made from various ingredients. Soup, salads, desserts and most especially, fried food cannot be ruled out in these meals. Fried and crispy food is something kids and adults alike crave for and as we all know should be taken in moderation. Preparing this type of food is quite easy especially with the use of a deep fryer which is becoming increasingly popular in homes and is recommended by a number of food aficionados, celebrity chefs and homemakers.

Originally, commercial establishments and restaurants were the only ones using deep fryers. These cooking implements are enclosed devices that are popularly used and recommended by professionals as they prevent oil splashing, which in turn reduces the risk of burn incidents. Also, the prevention of oil splashing of these devices make them more economical than ordinary types of frying pans-i.e., less time and money is consumed in cooking as more oil is saved while frying, which in turn may be used for other fried dishes.

Depending on the purpose where they are to be used, deep fryers are also referred to as Deep Fat Fryers or Flash Fryers. Generally, though, these fryers are categorized into two-home fryers and commercial fryers. The most distinguishable difference of these two types of fryers is their size-i.e., home fryers are significantly smaller than commercial fryers. Also, home fryers are designed with smaller oil capacity chambers, hence, only a smaller amount of food can be fried at a time, while the commercial ones are designed for greater amounts of food as they feature a large capacity oil chamber.

Though there are only two general types of deep fryers, these types can be purchased in a multitude of sizes, designs, features, as well as brands and models. As such, reading the user guide attached in the package is most important in learning how to use said cooking devices. Nonetheless, one of the important things to remember when using these tools is to identify the type of oil that will be used in cooking fried food so as to be able to identify the cooking time necessary in heating desired oil type.

Also, all deep fryers require that oil be heated first to the right temperature before food is immersed. When the oil is ready, the food may be immersed and cooked in the fryer through the use of slotted spoons, tongs, or basket fryers. After the food is fried, it is suggested that it be drained on paper towels so as to remove excess grease. Food experts that frying can be done in a faster way if cooking is done in batches rather than immersing all the food to be fried all at once.

It is true that fried food is one of the most popular types of food today. However, with the oil contents of these types of food, it is always recommended to consume such in moderation so as to prevent health risks. As such, regardless that the type of fryer to be used is an ordinary pan or a deep fryer, once should remember to consume fried food always in moderation.
