Time for a New Coffee Maker With my old coffee maker on the fritz and taking way too long to brew my coffee, it was high time I invested in a new one! After looking at a few online I decided to find a coffee maker that was easy to use, fast and above all made great tasting coffee! I picked up the Melitta 10 cup Thermal Coffee Brewer and couldn't wait to make some coffee with it. (It's just me, but I REALLY like coffee) After making my first cup, I've never looked back!
Brewing My First Cup of Coffee with the Melitta Coffee Brewer Switching to the Melitta meant that I'd have to change from flat filters to the cone shape but this was not an issue as the Brewer came with filters already. I filled the top loading water reservoir to the 4 cup mark and away we went. 4 cups is the least amount indicated on the carafe. While I'd like to have a lesser option, 4 is fine. The Melitta's Regular, Bold, and Robust settings adjust the temperature of the water during heating, a hotter brewing temperature makes for richer tasting coffee! For my first cup, Regular would be just fine. And I was not disappointed. Not only did it make coffee quickly, but it made GREAT coffee quickly!
Do you use ground coffee or beans? This is another point to consider when choosing a machine. If you use ground coffee, a brewer would be your choice. But some people use beans as they need their java extremely fresh.
Don't you just love the smell of freshly ground coffee? If you use beans, you will have to decide if you need a coffee maker which has a built-in grinder or a buy the brewer and grinder separately. When grinding beans, they release oils and other compounds which should be captured to get the special flavor by brewing immediately. A coffee maker with a built-in grinder can do that job perfectly.
For some individuals, the design of the coffee maker can sometimes be as important as the coffee it brews. And rightly so. The Fresh Brew delivers a sleek black body and brushed stainless steel carafe combo. It doesn't get much more stylish than that. The only problem with the design is that it is potentially too tall for some kitchen counters with shallow cabinets. This can make or break it for some people, so keep that in mind while shopping for your new coffee maker. The Fresh Brew comes with an extra lid to keep the coffee hot, but they omitted a place to keep the lid when it isn't on the coffee maker. It's not a big problem, but it just means finding somewhere to put it and it is one other thing to remember.
If you want the coffee maker to blend in with your other appliances, there are some colors that you can chose from. Mostly you will get the choice of Black or Silver colors. But there are some that come in white, pink, red and some other colors
The final verdict after writing the review: The Zojirushi Fresh Brew EC-BD15 is a top quality coffee maker that brews an excellent cup of coffee and will keep it hot for hours. It is easy to put aside the very minor issues when you consider the price you are paying for the machine. At the very least, this product is worth testing out and if you are still not convinced, try and find another make and model that can do all this, while looking great, for under $100.
