Delicious Desserts

The word "Dessert" was derived from an Old French word "desservir" which means 'to clear the table'. A dessert is a sweet dish that mostly comes after a main meal. These desserts consist of sugary food or can be made from any flavored snack like cheese turned into cheese cakes.

Often times in the English language dessert is confused with the word desert (note only one "s"), which is a barren piece of land normally with sand as soil.
After the 19th century, those in the middle class appeared and the sugar business became modernized. Sweets were enjoyed not only by the rich people but by everyone in the community, and it was for all occasions. Sugar became less expensive and affordable to everybody. When sugar was shared, desserts were improved and became popular.

Nowadays, desserts became the talk of town because it is a delightful way to win the crowd's attention after the meal. With a tasteful dessert after a typical meal, then you and your dessert will mark in their minds instead of the meal.

The main course and the dessert are separated in most traditions. But it doesn't apply in some traditions. For instance, the Chinese people, they combine the sweet and savory dishes during their meal.

For some people, the dessert is understood to be a different serving of food, instead of a main meal; it can be eaten after a main course. But since it is now becoming more and more popular, there are already restaurants that concentrate only in desserts.
