Mardi Gras Celebration Cake

By Kathy Smith

Fat Tuesday King cake is the Louisiana pastry dished up at Fat Tuesday occasion. This may be a cinnamon-roll comparable to cake that's light and moreover fluffy and also on the inside it's always brim-full of sugary icing. On the exterior, it's iced and after that sprinkled with Fat Tuesday colors.

Materials

1 package dried out yeast
cup heated water
6 teaspoons milk (lowfat or regular -either are going to do), boiled subsequently cooled down. Since this is an extremely little bit of milk, I like to boil it in a small to medium sized container inside a microwave oven. I find it simpler to carry out instead of on the range top.
four or five cups of flour
pound of butter
cup of sugar
tsp . of salt
four eggs
one tablespoon of butter, melted then cooled off or some Pam
1/4 cup of light corn syrup, for frosting (Or possibly, you if prefer whitened frosting, quite simply combine 1 cup of powdered sugar with 1/3-1/2 cup milk)
Tinted sugar crystals (yellow, purple and green), for scattering topping this cake

To Make:

Pre-heat the oven to 325 degrees and just barely grease a large cookie sheet, then set to one side.

Dissolve the yeast in very, very warm (not hot) water. Add the milk and about cup of flour.
In a large bowl, stir butter, sugar, salt, and all four eggs. Then, add yeast mixture and stir thoroughly.
Slowly add 2 cups of flour to make the dough, brush with the melted butter or spray with Pam. This will keep the dough from drying out as it rises. Cover the bowl with a towel and put the bowl in a warm spot.

Allow for the dough to rise for 3-4 hours or until roughly doubled in size. Once it has risen, pound it down and then prepare the kitchen countertop to knead the dough. Dust the countertop and the dough with around 1/2 cup to 1 cup of flour to prevent it from getting sticky as you mold it.

Loosely form the dough in three to four foot long loaf and after that design it into an oval on the oiled cookie sheet. Pinch the ends of the dough together to close the oval. Wet your hands if required to get the two ends to stay together.

Once more, cover the oval dough with a clean towel and permit it to rise until doubled in size, which should be around 60 minutes.
Bake for 35-45 minutes or until the top is just barely browned. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for approximately 15 after which drizzle the corn syrup on top. Sprinkle on the sprinkles and enjoy this Mardi Gras King Cake!
