Charcoal briquets are great sources for grilling outdoors. It doesn't heat up the kitchen and if you like the smoky flavor you might find cooking on the grill fast becoming your summertime favorite.

Two of the main ingredients in the product are char and coal. The char gives your food the wood flavoring and in certain brands make it easier to light. The coal can give you the high heat you may need when cooking certain foods. Depending on the brand you purchase you could find some coals may burn for a longer period of time. They also can cost less. The first item on your list should be making sure you have safety precautions I place.

It is easy to relax and enjoy yourself with these easy suggestions for grilling your outdoor meals. You might keep safety for yourself and, others you may be entertaining, a priority.

Lighting the product is sometimes challenging and patience is needed. You might try to use crumpled paper with the product to create a flame. Lighter fluid may make things a whole a lot easier but it can also add a flavor to your food keeping you from truly enjoying the original flavor of your grilled foods.

You should be careful once the coals become heated. Even after they have cooled they could be hot enough to cause you a severe bun. Always keep plenty of water available to put out the fire. Once the coal is wet, if you allow it to dry completely, you may be able to use it another day.

Once the coals are lit, monitoring the temperature becomes your next step in grilling. Making sure your foods are cooked correctly is important. It may take you some time to gain experience in adjusting the coals to help even out the temperature. Knowing how many coals to add or take away from the grill to achieve the level of heat necessary is learned over time.

When cooking your kabobs or thin fillets you might choose to use a thin layer of coals to maintain a lower heat allowing the food to cook slowly so it does not burn. Once you place your food on the grill you might want it to be approximately six inches above the heat.

When cooking meats that are thicker you might want to move the heated coals to the sides of grill and then place your food in the center of the rack. This ensures the meat will cook more thoroughly from the inside out.
