A visit to a gourmet food and wine festival is a great day out for all sorts of different people. Along with television cooking shows they are becoming more and more popular, giving ordinary people the opportunity to experience fresh local produce and good wines while learning some new cooking techniques and watching their favorite chefs.

One of the best things about these festivals is the chance to try out lots of different food that has been prepared for you by professionals. There will usually be representatives from the different types of cuisine from all around the world. There will also be wine experts, helping you to sample the choices on offer. You will be able to pick up plenty of ideas for your next dinner party.

Many of these festivals hold cooking demonstrations in a theater style environment. Here you will be up close to the action picking up new ideas and learning new cooking techniques and skills. Some even hold amateur cooking competitions so you test your skills out against others.

At some festivals you may be lucky to be in the presence of some of the celebrity chefs from your favorite television shows and restaurants. They often give the cooking demonstrations and do question and answer slots with the audience.
