It's Time to Deck the Halls for Christmas

By Anya Shiela Richards

Do you feel the air getting colder around you? And look at those trees, their leaves are starting to fall, while old man winter is changing the landscape to winter white! People are on the rush to replace their furniture with beautiful plastic snowmen -an indication that it is about time to start decorating for the holidays and start baking those scrumptious cupcakes for Christmas.

I wait all year to pull down my Christmas and Thanksgiving decorations from the attic. Many people don't decorate because of the lengthy process of hanging the decorations but, I relish this time spent and the anticipation of the final completed masterpiece.

Every year, I would always anticipate that moment where I need to bring out all my holiday decorations that have long been kept in the attic of my house. It's sad that some people won't take time to decorate due to the tedious process of hanging each decor, but not in my case though. I relish and enjoy the moment I spent hanging each of those beautiful Christmas ornaments, while feeling excited for the final completion of my masterpiece.

First, you should be able to come up with your own theme. Though holiday is your main theme, it is good to come up with a sub-theme, like coming up with a color coordination whether rustic or modern in nature. Be sure to choose which ones suit your taste so you would be able to easily encapsulate it.

It is best to decide in advance which theme you want to come up with so you will have plenty of time for the preparation. If you've noticed, most stores would offer Christmas decors on sale, several months before Christmas. Stock up on lights, so you would have plenty of these, come Christmas time.

When it comes to buying Christmas lights, choose those lights that have white shades. This is because these lights can be easily mixed up with other colorful decors that you have. You can never go wrong with white lights, since you can always combine it with whatever color you want.

Homemade decorations are actually the best. So if you can, you better make your own decorations at home. Try to come up with some cute garlands and pine cones that will serve as ornaments for your Christmas trees.

Making use of varying accents when decorating will certainly make a difference to your holiday decoration. Candles are one of the most popular holiday decors, as a burning candle could add instant warmth during this holiday season. Choose those that have fragrant scents, or those that smells like a freshly baked Christmas cupcakes with cupcake frosting.

Whatever theme you choose for your holiday decor, do not be afraid to experiment each year. What's great about decorating for Christmas is that you can mix or match your decors. If you'd be able to come up with a unique idea this year, you'll surely feel excited into coming up with an even better idea for the following year.
