Home Appliances: Buying Tips

By Cory Anderson

Dishwashers and washing machines are the most reviewed machines when it comes to home appliances. Many people would have gone through a couple of machines in their lives, and will therefore have personal experience based on which they will judge what they get. The review sites on the Internet are very good because it helps us, customer's form an idea in our minds of which particular model is good for our needs.

If you are replacing a current dishwasher you might want to take into consideration the style of your other appliances. If they are newer and you are happy with them, then it makes sense to think all about dishwashers that coordinate with them. However, if you are planning on replacing them as well, then you can really go with anything. It would also be a good idea to think about some of the features of your current dishwasher that you like, what you do not like and what you wish it did or did not do. If the noise of it bothers you, shop for the quietest dishwashers on the market. If you like that it has a water miser function, then make sure your new one does as well.

Another benefit to having commercial dishwashers would be that they get your plates, bowls, and silverware clean the very first time they are put through. If you own a dishwasher in your home, you are probably familiar with opening the appliance and finding crusty food caked on your dishes and utensils. And while you can simply wash the dirty plate at home, the food industry cannot afford such leniency. If a customer sees food encrusted on their plate, they will send it back to the kitchen. What's more, that particular customer may not feel comfortable coming to the restaurant again after having such a bad experience.

The only problem is that at this price you get Bosch dishwashers that give you even more features like the bacteria free rinse and a really quiet machine. Plus of course comes the reliability and Maytag just does not stand in the same league.

The one advantage is that GE knows what we want and offers a hard food disposer integrated with their dishwasher. Be careful though because this is an option that you will have to tick, not all their models have the disposer. Of course you will still have to scrape your dishes before you put them in, but the disposer is there for those thing that you have overlooked or missed.

Other factor that is worth considering for a dishwasher is the wash cycle availability. For examples, the hand or gentle wash cycle in some dishwasher models is specifically dedicated to lightly soiled china and crystal. The glasses cycle is designed for glasses. The plastic cycle is specifically designed to reduce the risk of melting plastic items and improve plastic drying. In other words, make sure the dishwasher that you choose has the dedicated cycles for the types of dishes you have.
