Designing the Custom Wine Cellar Los Angeles CA One of the most beautiful wine cellars that I've seen is that in Los Angeles California. The designing of this custom wine cellar was a challenge but the outcome was breathtaking.

One of the challenges faced during the designing of this project was the size of the client's wine collection. The client wanted a huge wine cellar that could house 3816 wine bottles. Additionally, his wine collection was composed of bottles that varied widely in size. The client wanted that all his bottles would be stored in standard racking regardless of size. Finally, the client specified for a wine cooling system that could effectively maintain the temperature of his wine cellar room in the right levels in order to ensure the preservation of the quality of his wines.

Amidst all these challenges, the client was able to get his dream custom wine cellar and this article will give you preview of its features.
Priorities in Wine Cellar Design - Elegance and Durability I've seen so many wine cellars and this wine cellar Los Angeles California is one of the biggest wine cellar projects I know. The wine cellar was built to be nearly 40' of counter height. It was built to fit the client's room with 10 foot ceiling height. Due to the immenseness of this custom wine cellar, the designer included an 8' rolling library-type ladder. This ladder allowed the client to conveniently reach wine bottles stored above the 8' height.

The material used in the construction of this elegant wine cellar was quality Heart Redwood. This wood is taken from the redwood tree's core and is known for its distinct dark colors with soft earth tone variations. These soft earth tone variations beautifully develop overtime. Heart Redwood is known to be durable against shock, decay, and frequent changes in humidity. The wood was also coated with a clear lacquer finish to protect the wood from accidental spills.

More protective features ensure the cellar's longevity. This wine cellar was built with a 4 inch toe kick or base to keep the racks off the floor. This specific feature keeps the cellar protected from unintended foot bumps.

Bottles of All Sizes Can Be Stored in the Wine Racks The client's collection comprises bottles of varied sizes including split bottles, champagnes, and magnums. Since the client desired to have all these bottles stored in standard racking, the designer made sure that the wine racks had large sized bottle openings. The size of the bottle openings is large enough to store any bottle of any size in the market.

Quality Wine Cooling System The client wanted a wine cooling system that could efficiently preserve the quality of his wines. Subsequently, a quality cooling system was installed and set the wine cellar room to an accurate temperature of 55-60 degrees. This cooling system was a ductless split refrigeration system. In the installation of this system, it was concealed with a grill box, a louvered vent cover, and designed with a Heart redwood cover coated with a clear lacquer finish - all these so that the system will beautifully match the cellar wood.

The One of a Kind Wine Cellar Entry Door The wine cellar entry door of this custom wine cellar Los Angeles CA was noteworthy. This beautiful feature was made out of glass and was arched. It also had an iron grill installed for its protection. It is essential for wine cellars to have a secure door because this can determine how effective the temperature is controlled inside the wine cellar room. Constant changes in the room's temperature can adversely affect the quality of wine stores.

This Los Angeles wine cellar door depicts a perfect mix of elegance, durability, and functionality. This feature was the cherry on top of this wine cellar project.
